<B>Chris says:</B> For the curious, a pavane is both a kind of slow, sedate Italian dance and the musical form to which that dance was performed. It's a particularly old form, since it came into widespread use during the 16th century. Personally, I'll stick to just playing the pavane music- I have two left feet when it comes to dancing. Anyway, the song came about when myself, Catie and Elliot had a bit of an ideas session at my old house in Crookesmoor. Catie started playing this lovely melody on the recorder, and me and Elliot ran with it. We recorded the song roughly then just let it sit around for ages, until Catie dug it out again and suggested it as a nice instrumental song for our setlist. A bit of tweaking in the practice room and some more jamming and the song was completed.

Catie rather likes this song- mostly because of the recorders, I believe, which she has a bit of a thing for. Personally, I've begrudgingly admitted that recorders can sound very nice and not like the squeaky, scratchy recorders that I used to hear people haltingly playing at my primary school- although when Catie gets out the very small treble recorder which sounds as though it could melt the wax in your ears, I can't help but suppress a wince. :P
